The Weekend of 12/13 November

The weekend just past was Adele (Inkie Quills) latest scrapstream. I set myself up for a WHOLE day of creating and actually managed to get a few layouts done.

The second layout of the weekend was of a photo taking when my family and I went for a little holiday to the Scottish Borders back in July. Whilst away we decided to go to Edinburgh's Camera Obscura and Optical Illusions Museum. We had great fun making our way through the museum, playing with all the interactive elements and spending time as a family. At the end of the museum we came across an auto-wed machine so Matt and I decided it would be fun to get auto-wed. We put on the wedding props, entered our names and got married.

I have had the photos from this sitting on my desk for a while and decided that the Like For Ever Harmony Kit was perfect for the photo. This is how the layout turned out:

I really enjoyed making this layout and getting this memory into my album. The layout actually came together pretty quickly (considering I haven't had any scrappy mojo for the past month). I love all things Maggie Holmes and love working with the products.

A closer look at the layout :

I really enjoy using lots of little bits to make up clusters and was happy to get some more of those beautiful flowers used up.

I will be doing an accompanying pocket page to go with this as i have out 'marriage certificate' and some other photos to go with this one.

Thanks for looking xx

When I Grow Up I want To Be A Unicorn

A lot of the time when I get in from work i really just want to have my tea and relax, however on the odd occasion i decided that i want to sit at my desk and scrap.  Tonight has been one of those nights.  I am desperate to use up the remainder of my Like For Ever Harmony kit so pulled this out to work with tonight.  I had no idea what I was going to create so pulled out one of the many selfie pictures of my daughter and just went with what I felt like.  This is the resulting page:

When I started the layout the only thing that I new was that I really, really wanted to use that unicorn sticker (I was worried my daughter was gonna steal it) and I remembered the conversation that we had one day.  The photo on the layout is just a random snap with no real meaning but was perfect for documenting this memory.  I wonder how she will feel in a few years when she looks back and realises that she said this.

The title for this layout took me a lot longer to create than I care to admit.  I new straight away that I wanted to use the Amy Tan vellum alphas for the word unicorn but I went through at least 10 other alphabets before settling on the rest of the title.  It really needed something underneath it to ground it and well I have been hoarding this rosette since I received it so decided to just go ahead and add it to the page.  Once the title was done the left hand side of the page needed some journalling so that I could better explain the title.

That strip of pink under the photo mat was the final thing to be added as I felt it needed a pop of pink on that side to balance the whole layout out.

Overall I really quite like this layout and at the end of the day who doesn't want to be a unicorn.

Thanks for stopping by and TTFN x

You Are So Funny And Sweet

So lately i have been trying to work my way through some of my Like For Ever kits which have been building up due to a recent scrappy block.  Well I'm glad to say that it now seems to be over and i have been managing to create again (yay). Whilst watching the many, many youtube channels that i follow i came across the most gorgeous layout from Hey Elsie http://heyelsie.blogspot.co.uk/ and decided to have a go at scraplifting it.  I will admit i did not have the layout in front of my when i did this which may have been helpful but I just went with it. So here is the layout that i came up with:

I used a little bit of the packaging technique in the background with some water colour paints.  All of the rest of the products came from the Like For Ever October (Harmony) Kit.  I just love those Maggie Holmes florals (and well I just love Maggie Holmes products in general).  There isn't much of a story to the photo, its just one of those random selfies that my daughter likes to add to my dropbox folder but I thought that it showed her personality well.  And, hey, not all photos have a really important photo some of them are just pretty.

I kinda love the way this turned out even though it turned out differently to Elsies layout and i will definately try out this whole scene style layout again.

Thanks For looking and I will have more to share soon. TTFN

A Little Introduction

Hi and welcome to my brand new very simple blog.  I'm Jacqui and I live in Scotland with my little defected family - Matt, Millie, Tilly cat and Gex the gecko.  We are all a little bit crazy and maybe a few sandwiches short of a picnic lol.  I love to scrapbook and create pages to keep our family memories alive and, well, i really like pretty paper (and shoes, I like shoes).  I am also currently trying very hard to stick to slimming world which is easier said than done when your a mega chocoholic.

Well i suppose i should really get down to why we are here.  Memory keeping.  Memory keeping to me is being able to record a multitude of stories so that they aren't lost as time goes by.  However, some of the pages i create do not always have a specific story and are just a record of how much my daughter is growing up and include many of the selfies that she has taking herself.  Scrapbooking is a process which i enjoy and helps me to unwind and relax.  I currently subscribe to the Like For Ever scrapbooking kit which is what i use to create most of the layouts that i make.  Its a fab kit club with a fantastic, supportive community;

Well that's enough waffle from me just now, but a big fat welcome to my beautiful scrappy life and thanks so much for visiting.
